Frequently Asked Questions
|
 |
|
 |
Q: Why should I join the
Association of Database Developers? |
 |
A:
The primary purpose of the Association of Database
Developers is to provide an international support network of Database
Developers that is easily available to end users. ADD gives end users easy and
immediate access to a very impressive pool of developers that are knowledgeable
on a wide variety of database applications. |

 |
Q:
Will I get leads if I join ADD? |
 |
A:
We cannot guarantee that you will receive
database development leads if you join ADD. We can guarantee to pass along all
leads that we do receive. All leads and requests for database assistance are
distributed to the membership in two ways. Every request received through our
web site is made available to the membership
immediately in the members only area. Secondly, every database development
request is distributed to the membership through our ADD mailing list service.
We believe that if we build a web site that gives access to some of the most
talented Database Developers in the world, then the people will come! |

 |
Q:
If I join as a developer, do the people seeking a
developer get my services for free or would I negotiate a price with them? |
 |
A:
We are trying to match database developers with those
in need of database development services. Any fees that you might charge for
your services are strictly between you and the client. |

 |
Q:
Do I have to be a database developer before I can join
ADD? |
 |
A:
No, you do not have to be a database developer
to join ADD. Some of our members are closely connected with the industry in
other ways; publishers of computer books, vendors of audio and video training
materials, software developers, individuals desiring to become database
developers and others that simply want to stay abreast of events in the
industry. |

Q:
Why should I join the free ADD guest mailing list? |
 |
A:
By joining our guest mailing list, you will get
an inside look at all of the activities of the organization. Of course, as a
guest, you will not be entitled to the benefits
that ADD members enjoy. It is a good way to monitor our group and help you come
to a conclusion as to whether or not ADD is for you. |

|
 |
Q:
Does ADD provide database development services? |
 |
A:
The Association of Database Developers does not
provide any database development services of any kind. All needs and requests
received are forwarded on to our membership of developers and consultants. |

|
 |
Q:
Is ADD affiliated with any software companies?
|
 |
A:
Although our members are database experts and
some of our members may be employed by or have professional relationships with
software companies, ADD has no formal affiliation with any software development
companies such as Microsoft, Oracle or FileMaker. |
 |
|
 |
Q:
Does ADD "Certify" developers? |
 |
A:
No, ADD does not "Certify" developers. We try to
assist members in becoming certified for specific software companies such as
Microsoft, FileMaker, etc. We find that our members are generally very honest
about their abilities, but we cannot verify the claims of the membership.
Therefore, no endorsement of any ADD member is to be inferred. All information
on this site pertaining to the members was provided by the individual members
themselves. If we receive verifiable complaints about any ADD member acting in
an unprofessional manner, then we would seriously evaluate the situation at
hand, with permanent expulsion from the organization being a real possibility. |
